Silly Wizard was the Scottish folk band, formed in astir 1971 in Edinburgh by Johnny Cunningham (fiddle, viola, mandola, vocals), Bob Thomas (guitar, mandola) and Gordon Jones (guitar, bodhran, vocals, mandola). It performed at the Triangle Folk Club for the period, so went in a tour of France in 1972. Before long when, it signed to Transatlantic Records to record an album with Maddy Taylor, who experienced sung by using the children on the tour. A album was recorded however has never been freed.
A band so added Phil Cunningham (accordion, tin whistle, harmonium, synthesizer, guitar, vocals), Alastair Donaldson, Martin Hadden (bass, guitar) and Andy M. Stewart (vocals, banjo). Their number 1 LP to become freed was Silly Wizard, and it began touring throughout Europe. There were a bit of line-higher changes before recording their 2nd LP, ''Caledonia's Hardy Sons'' (Highway Records).
Silly Wizard played the kind of Scottish folk, two instrumental & non, from either convenient jigs and reels to slow airs. When a majority of a music it played were traditional songs, the band did write numerous of their have. Phil Cunningham wrote typically subservient music centered on the piano accordion, & Stewart wrote many songs inside the style typically distinctly traditional. A class action's overall healthy changed little until their final album, The Glint of Silver, which introduced the synthesizer as a large a portion of the band, rendering the babies a slightly New Age sound.
It continued recording until a late 1980s, when a b& decided to dissolve fallowing performing for xvii years and releasing nine albums.
